APPRENTICESHIP EVENT AT DIT GRANGEGORMAN

A well-attended information morning on apprenticeship opportunities took place at DIT Grangegorman on Wednesday 27th June 2018.  Organised by the GLLF in conjunction with Sisk FCC and the Grangegorman Development Agency, this informal drop-in event provided people interested in apprenticeships with an opportunity to chat to employers who were looking to recruit apprentices.

The apprenticeship event attracted a large number of young people, parents, community representatives and youth workers from Grangegorman and the surrounding areas.  Current Grangegorman contractors Sisk FCC, Design Group, Winthrop Engineering and Phelan Electrical were on hand with some of their apprentices to provide information and advice on electrical, mechanical, and carpentry/joinery apprenticeship opportunities. 

Participating contractors were joined by representatives from DIT Bolton Street, DIT School of Management, Aungier Street (who were showcasing the new logistics apprenticeship), DIT Access and Civic Engagement, FastTrack to IT (FIT) apprenticeships, the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB), Dublin North West Area Partnership, and Intreo.

Those who came along were also given an opportunity to polish their CVs and brush up their interview skills, while enjoying a cold drink on what was a hot day!  We hope that this will be the first in a series of similar events so watch this space for further details or contact Kathleen McCann (01 402 4262, kathleen.mccann@ggda.ie) for further information.
